Activating students in multicultural groups

Description of the practice

When classes are attended by students from different backgrounds/cultures, e.g. from Erasmus exchanges or bilateral agreements, it is good practice to allocate e.g. 10 minutes of each class for the students who volunteer to prepare a presentation on any topic, more or less related to their culture and the lecture/exercise topics. In this way, the group will have the opportunity to get to know each other more, which will translate into activity/frequency and a sense of belonging among the students.

Key elements of practice

– Presenting the presentation idea to the first class
– Gathering willing students
– Working out a schedule of presentations over the semester
– Participation in student presentations
